Behzad Valipour Shokouhi is a Senior Software Engineer at Newcastle University, leading the Research Software Engineering (RSE) team for the Imago project. His work focuses on developing scalable software and data pipelines that transform satellite and environmental data into actionable insights supporting research, policy, and innovation across the UK. 

With a background spanning academia and industry, Behzad has extensive experience in geospatial data processing, Earth observation, and cloud-based analytics. He has managed terabytes of satellite imagery from sources such as Sentinel, Landsat, ASTER, and MODIS, building reproducible analytical pipelines (RAPs) to streamline processing and enable efficient data sharing. 

Before joining Newcastle University, Behzad worked at Swansea University on the MAGENTA project and at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute on the PoCHAS project, where he designed high-performance computing (HPC) and AWS-based pipelines for large-scale environmental modelling. 

Behzad is passionate about developing robust, reproducible, and impactful software solutions that bridge the gap between research and real-world applications, empowering scientists and decision-makers to tackle pressing environmental and societal challenges.
